The Tata Group has over half a century of experience
in the engineering business, including the automotive industry.

in the 1940s of Tata Engineering &
Locomotive Company Ltd, now known as Tata Motors
Ltd.
Tata Motors has, since its inception, been
the leader in the manufacture of commercial vehicles. In the 1990s,
the company launched the first indigenously developed car, the Indica

and Indica Marina estate car. The company also makes the Safari
and Sumo SUVs.
Other Tata Group companies are into the design,
engineering and manufacturing of a variety of automotive-related
and other engineering and industrial products. The large pool of
engineering talent at the Tata Group is unmatched in India, both
for its size and its quality. The group has built this strength
over the decades, while absorbing a range of technologies, honing
skills, and building management and marketing competencies.
The group has consistently spent on research
and development, and is now reaping the benefits of its past investments
in a wide range of automotive-relevant areas, from metallurgy to
plastics and from CAD/CAM/CAE to supply chain management, besides
its investments in state-of-the-art manufacturing and testing equipment.
The Tata Group has all the skills
