Communication
Communication between the customer's operating engineers and the TACO Engineering team, a key component in successful offshore engineering, is addressed through:

  • The on-site coordinator, who gives all design activities carried out in India a human face and coordinates all deliveries
  • Online design reviews, conducted through the use of techniques like net meetings, E-Vis and common screen sharing

The strategic business unit has also set up international branch offices in Detroit, USA; Paris, France; Munich, Germany and Tokyo, Japan to facilitate onsite customer interaction.

Quality
To ensure world-class design services despite the physical distance between customers and TACO Engineering's facilities, the strategic business unit has instituted a variety of processes and systems. These ensure that the engineers have a comprehensive understanding of customer expectations and requirements, and are able to meet targeted costs, quality standards and delivery times.

Confidentiality and security
Customer confidentiality is ensured and customer data is secured through a range of processes and systems, including:

  • Dedicated engineers for customer projects, each bound by confidentiality agreements
  • Limited access to offices: only engineers approved by the customer are provided access to design centres
  • Limited localised networking: customer data-transfer is done over secured, firewall-controlled lines as per customer specifications
