Tata AutoComp sets foot in Japan

Tata AutoComp Systems,
a Tata Group company and one of Indias largest auto components
and services provider has set up office in the city of Kagoshima,

Tata AutoComp aims to offer two services to
the Japanese auto market, namely Automotive Components and Engineering
Services. The automotive components could be produced either in
its plants in India or the new facility in China. The company is
setting up a new facility in Nanjing, China and this plant is scheduled
to be operational in early 2008.
Tata AutoComp has already set up an engineering
facility at Yokohama, Japan. This facility aims to partner with
Japanese Auto majors and offer design and product development facilities.
With the Japanese auto market entering a maturity phase and the
auto majors focusing on reducing costs, this facility will of a
great advantage to them.
Tata AutoComp has a strong relationship with
the Japanese auto industry. It supplies Automotive Components to
Japanese Auto majors in India like Toyota, Honda and Mitsubishi.
It also has joint ventures with many Auto Component majors like
Yazaki Corporation for wiring harnesses, GS Yuasa for automotive
batteries and T Rad for radiators. The company also has technical
agreements with Atsumitech, Mistubishi Corpration and Murakami Corporation.
The Tata Group, which is Indias largest
business group, is fueling its growth through its global ambitions.
Its relationship with Japan and Japanese companies go a long way.
Since 1987, TCS (the worlds leading software company) has
been providing software services to companies in Japan. Today, TCS
has large operations in Japan. Besides TCS, other companies that
have relations with Japan are Tata Metaliks having joint ventures
with two Japanese companies and Tata Elxsi. The setting up of a
Representative Office and an Engineering Center by Tata AutoComp
further enhances the presence of Indias largest business group
in Japan.
